In order for us to be one on one and kennel free, we will need our pet parents to be punctual for drop offs and pick ups. You will be sent a heads up text when we are 15-20 minutes away from finishing your dog. Please let us know if you need 20+ minute heads up text. We are not doggy day care. You will be given a 15 minute grace period but if your dog is not picked up within 15 minutes of us being finished you will be charged a late pick up fee and we may need to put your dog in a crate. For every 15 extra minutes late you will charged $10.

As stated by the Colorado Law, your Pet must be current and up to date on their rabies vaccination before any services can be performed on your Pet. If your pets Rabies expired at the time of the service, Pets will be turned away and rescheduled when vaccinations are not up to date. Your pet will not be exposed to any other animals (other than those from your residence) in our care. This limits the risk of contact illnesses.

Hawkeye’s Dog Spa retains the right to refuse to groom any pet that your stylist’s feel is a health risk or are in a substandard condition, for both the pet and stylist’s safety. Common safety concerns include but are not limited to: pregnacy, physical limitations, heart conditions and heart murmurs, history of seizures, open wounds, ect please call us if you are not sure your dog is healthy enough to be groomed

While Hawkeye’s Dog Spa has had a great deal of experience and success in the grooming of difficult pets, your stylist reserves the right to halt the grooming process should a pet become aggressive or anxious to the point of being a danger to stylist or to his or herself. Full or part of the grooming charge may apply. Please let us know if your dog has any behavioral challenges so we can best accommodate and work with your dog. If your dog needs extra time and special handling this will be reflected in your groom price.

Hawkeye’s will not sedate pets and must be informed if you have given your pet any medication before your visit. This is absolutely necessary for the pet and stylist’s safety. Mild sedation like CBD, valerian root, catnip, trazodone, and gabapentin is generally okay. That being said we don’t love working with dogs on sedatives even natural ones. It often does not fix anxiety or timid behaviors. It just slows dogs down. We highly recommend going for a walk or even giving your dog an interactive toy before the groom instead. We’d love to show you ways to help socialize and desensitize your dog at home. It is our job as groomers to groom your dog with positive energy and safe handling in a comfortable environment and your job as an owner to train and desensitize your dog to grooming. It is always best to consult with your vet if you think supplements or medication will help your dog be more comfortable with grooming.

Pets that have not been groomed until the later years of their lives are at even higher risk for injury during the grooming process due to their unfamiliarity and stress levels for new environments. You should not expect a “show level” groom on an elderly pet but rather what we call a “comfort groom” (i.e. shaving instead of de-matting, or short one length all over so grooming can be less frequent). While your stylist will make every effort to keep every pet comfortable, elderly pets will be allowed to sit and lay down which will make the groom process more difficult and can cause uneven hair lengths. When elderly pets become stressed or uncomfortable we will return them to the pet owner in an attempt to reasonably avoid injuries.

The younger you can start regular grooming, the more confident your pet will be in the process. We like to see puppies for the first time when they are 8-16 weeks old for a puppy intro. Puppy intros are all about desensitization and making grooming a fun, safe, and positive experience. We also like to spend some extra time with our pet parents to get to know their lifestyle, future grooming preferences, schedule, and budget, as well as show you how to best maintain your dog’s hygiene needs at home in between professional grooms.

We do not express anal glands here at Hawkeye’s. The reason we don’t is because groomers are only able o express glands externally wheras a vet can express them interally. Ideally a healthy dog should not need their anal glands expressed.
Three main reasons for anal gland problems are trauma, location and diet.
If the sacs are repeatedly being manually expressed, they’re going to lose muscle tone and become dependent on manual expression.
If your dog needs their anal glands expressed we recommend consulting in your vet not having a groomer do them.

If Client suspects The Pet has fleas, ticks, lice, or been let your groomer know before bringing them in. If fleas, ticks, or lice are found during the grooming process, The Pet will be treated with a flea and tick shampoo (safe for both cats and dogs) specifically formulated to kill the parasites. The pet will then be sent home wet as drying could potentially spread the parasite to other pets. There will be an additional charge for this service. The Company will not use toxic pesticide dips or sprays on your pet. It is strongly suggested to follow up with your regular veterinarian for next steps.

Working with live pets and sharp instruments occasionally leads to an unexpected injury. Getting a pet proper veterinary care, if needed, is Hawkeye’s Dog Spa’s first concern. If you believe that a pet has been injured due to the grooming process you must seek veterinary advice and contact the company within 24 hours. Hawkeye’s Dog Spa will require a full written veterinary report stating the cause of injury being specific to the grooming process for us to accept any liability or negligence. If an injury was unavoidable due to the pets matted coat, Hawkeye’s Dog Spa expects the owner to take care of the additional costs as a risk of allowing the pet to become matted.

If, after the groom is complete, there is anything about the groom that you would like altered, please contact Hawkeye’s Dog Spa as soon as possible. Your stylist is never offended by timely requests to make minor changes, so please ask. Within a 36-hour window from the completion of an appointment, if it has not met your satisfaction, please contact Hawkeye’s Dog Spa about scheduling a “re-groom” or touch up appointment. After 36 hours of completion of an appointment, if you wish to have a stylist return to site, there will be additional fees
